Airbag Safety Alert!!!
Please review the Airbag Safety Alert developed by Capt. Keith Davis of the Collingswood, NJ FD as well as an instructor with Safety & Survival Training, LLC. It involves an incident that personally occurred to him causing injury. This as been developed by Capt. Davis to educate responders in an effort to avoid any future incidents. **Authorized Petrogen Training Process Completed**
We are pleased to announce that several of our instructors completed the instructor authorization process with Petrogen, Inc on July 1st & 2nd, making us an official trainer for the Petrogen oxy-gasoline system. These systems have become one of the most widely used cutting systems in the emergency services. The crew endured an intense, but extremely educating 16 hour class on the cutting systems offered by Petrogen. The class was instructed by Brian Heft, General Manager of Petrogen, Inc. Instructor Heft has an extensive background with the company as well as serving with the U.S. Army Special Operations. The training was conducted at Public Safety Outfitters in Mantua, NJ. Personal Harness Use for Darby, PA Fire Department
On Saturday June 26th, our instructors delievered the Personal Harness Use class for the Darby, PA Fire Department. The program was in result of their purchase of internal harnesses with their new PPE. The class was held at the Delaware County, PA Emergency Training Center, which provided us with a great training site. All members were trained on the many benefits and advantages that the personal harness has to offer. Applications for the harness in the areas of firefighter survival and rescue were covered throughout the day. The class was also opened up to members of the Newtown Square and Sharon Hill FD's. Forest Grove & Newfield, NJ Firefighters Complete RIC - Basic Ops
Firefighters from both the Forest Grove & Newfield, NJ Fire Companies completed the 12 hour Rapid Intervention Crew - Basic Operations program. The program started on Monday evening June 21st with a 3 hour lecture at the Forest Grove fire station delivered by instructors Chris Santone & Bob Childs. This was followed up with the 8 hour hands-on session on Sunday June 27th being held at an acquired in Newfield. Students focused on developing firefighter rescue skills in search rope techniques, air supply establishment, thermal camera use, horizontal drags, stair removals, floor removals, upper floor window removals, denver drill techniques, and enlarged openings. Students overcame several hurdles to accomplish their primary goals of each evolution to successfully rescue endangered firefighters. We look forward to working with these departments again in the future.

RIC - Collapse Ops in Voorhees, NJ
On Saturday June 19th, the Rapid Intervention Crew Collapse Operations program was delivered to members of the Voorhees, NJ Fire Department. This program is relative to the RIC - Advanced class but places more emphasis on the RIC's response to fireground collapse emergencies trapping firefighters. Students rotated through several skill stations to develop techniques to be utilized in these types of emergencies with the equipment they maintain. The afternoon session placed the students in a full scale scenario with several firefighters trapped in a basement collapse situation. Students combatted the hot weather conditions to make for a great training day. This program was conducted in an acquired structure but can be delivered anywhere in conjunction the mobile building collapse simulator from PPES. RIC Skills Refresher for Voorhees, NJ Firefighters
On Monday June 14, Safety & Survival Training instructors conducted a RIC Skills Refresher for the Voorhees, NJ Fire Department. This drill night session was delivered to their members to further develop previously learned firefighter rescue techniques and bolster their cohesion as a team. The 3 hour session reviewed several foundamental firefighter rescue techniques such as search & packaging, horizontal drags, floor removals, and window removals. The training was held in an acquired structure located within their town. This drill night session also helped prepare the members for the upcoming RIC - Collapse Operations program that will delievered by our staff. We are looking forward to the additional training sessions with the Voorhees firefighters and appreciate their efforts in ensuring everyone goes home. Stay safe.......


 
   
   
NEW Fire Engineering Training Minute Video Featuring Our Instructor Staff
The Fire Engineering Training Minutes Personal Harness Use video series continues with the release of Below Grade Firefighter Rescue. In this video, firefighters are taught how to employ the use of their personal harness to access and rescue downed firefighters from below grade situations. This is a last resort option to providing the best chances of survival for our brother & sister firefighters. This is the 6th video production by Fire Engineering in conjunction with the Safety & Survival Training staff. Personal Harness Use Training for Mt. Ephraim, NJ Fire Department
On Saturday May 22nd, instructors delivered a 4 hour Personal Harness Use to the Mt. Ephraim Fire Department. Over 20 firefighters were issued and trained on the Gemtor personal harness. All students were instructed on the proper sizing and donning of the harness, this was followed by (3) practical skills stations. The practical skills stations included upper floor egress procedures, vertical lower operations, and firefighter removal techniques. We would like to thank Chief Gilmore and the brothers/sister of the MEFD for allowing us the opportunity to educate them on the various uses of the personal harness. Stay safe..........


 
   
   
Staff Completes RIT Systems Authorization Training
The instructor staff of Safety & Survival Training, LLC has successfully completed the process to deliver authorized training on RIT Systems Escape Systems. On Monday 10th, instructors were taught system specific deployment and restoration procedures along with practical applications. This session also focused on preparing the staff for training on the new Scott SCBA escape system option recently released. We would like to thank Dave, Tim, and Tim from RIT Systems for providing the training and opportunities to work with their company.
