Swift/Flood Water Rescue: Awareness

3 Hours – Lecture 
Program shall provide the responder (any person who arrives first on scene of a water emergency) with essential water safety information and incident procedures. The program will cover; responder safety, activation of response system, scene safety, hazard recognition, and information gathering. The Awareness level prepares all responders on how to support the water rescue operation.

Program is in accordance with NFPA 1670 – Chapter 7.
This program is delivered in accordance with NFPA 1670 & 1006 Standards.

Swift/Flood Water Rescue: Operations

16 Hours – Lecture & Practical
The following course is being offered as an Operations Level to Moving Water Rescue where the Awareness level course leaves off. This NFPA 1670 formatted course is designed for responders who may be required to actively participate within the hazard zone during a water rescue evolution. Designed for firefighters, law enforcement and other emergency services personnel, this two-day program includes both classroom and in-water exercises. In-water skills include self-rescue as well as victim rescue techniques. Topics covered include swimming in current and self-rescue, swift water wading techniques, basic rigging, basic rescue techniques and much more.

Swift/Flood Water Rescue: Technician

16 Hours – Lecture & Practical
Building upon the skills and knowledge gained in the Awareness and Operations level courses, Moving Water Rescue – Technician is an advanced level of training that involves team leadership skills, as well as practical and technical training. During this training program, participants will develop skills necessary to meet the NFPA 1670 Technician requirements, which include management of the water rescue scene and supervision of rescuers with Operations level training. Topics covered include scene safety and management, hydrology and river hazards, boat-based rescues, technical rescue systems, contact rescues, victim assessment and much more.

Surface Ice Rescue: Awareness

4 Hours – Lecture 
The student will be provided with the information required to safely respond to and operate at incidents involving cold water and / or ice rescue operations in compliance with the provisions of NFPA 1670 – Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Search and Rescue Incidents.

Surface Ice Rescue: Operations

8 Hours – Lecture & Practical
This program of instruction will provide the student with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely operate at ice rescue incidents, including scene assessment, resource identification, hazard recognition and the initiation of the rescue response plan, along with basic “shore-based” rescue techniques. (NFPA 1006 – Level I / NFPA 1670 – Operations Level).

Surface Ice Rescue: Awareness & Operations

16 Hours – Lecture & Practical
Designed for emergency services personnel who belong to agencies whose jurisdictions encompass bodies of water (Oceans, Bays,Lakes, and Ponds).

The Open Water Rescue course combines both awareness and operations level training into an intense program. Topics covered include rescue philosophy and safety, team organization and scene management, basic moving-water hydrology and hazards, medical considerations, pre-planning, reaching and throwing rescues, contact rescues and managing combative victims, basic search management and search patterns, victim assessment and stabilization, spinal injuries, and much more.

We can also cover Boat Based Operations and Safety along with SCUBA Emergencies, which is an additional 8 hours of classroom and hands on application.

Building & Delivering an Effective Post-Incident Analysis

8 Hours – Lecture & Practical
This program of instruction will provide the student with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely operate and manage operations at ice rescue incidents, including scene assessment, resource identification, hazard recognition and the initiation of the rescue response plan, along with basic and advanced rescue techniques. (NFPA 1006 – Level II / NFPA 1670 – Technician Level).

Emergency Boat Operations & Rescue

12 or 16 Hours – Lecture & Practical
Classroom and practical hands-on training in boat selection, recommended equipment, boat-handling, moving-water tactics, and boat-rescue techniques. Course meets NFPA 1670 technician level guidelines.

This 16-hour course is a must-have for any rescue unit involved in on-the-water operations.
